The Watch: County Board accounting for American Rescue Plan funds

The Peoria County Board unanimously passed all consent agenda items at the Dec. 12 meeting, including a number of expenditures related to the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) that had to be allocated by the end of the month to avoid returning money to the federal government. These included:

  • $300,000 for the Tri-County Regional Planning Commission to administer the Peoria County Comprehensive Planning Process that was last completed in 2009.
  • $1.15M for a new salt storage building at the Highway Department’s Maxwell Station.
  • $90,0000 to replace the fuel island at Maxwell Station.

Other approved projects were funded by ARPA or by county’s Capital Project Fund:

  • Core Construction to provide management services for multiple projects at the courthouse.
  • PJ Hoerr to provide management services for multiple projects at facilities other than the courthouse.
  • $400,000 to Knapp Concrete to complete Phase II of the jail ring road.
  • $1.1 million to Bishop Brothers to renovate the probation department. Also approved were stormwater improvements at the Peoria Riverfront Museum and animal control services for some county towns and villages.
