The Watch: Sanitary District ponies up for some major sewage projects

On Jan. 21, Greater Peoria Sanitary District trustees were told six projects with contracts are now open.

High-dollar-value programs include:

  • Grease Receiving Facility, Phase I: The contractor is Peoria Metro Construction, Inc. of Peoria. Contract amount: $2,164,288. Percent complete: 99%.
  • Spring, Caroline, Phase 1 Gate Controls: The contractor is Stark Excavating, Inc. of Bloomington. Contract amount: $4,404,831. Percent complete: 19%.

Bids on projects:

  • Sewer Rehabilitation Lining Project 17. The project will line approximately 7,750 feet (1.47 miles) of pipe. Bids were received from Hoerr Construction, Inc. $773,200; J.C. Dillon, Inc., $854,890; and National Power Rodding Corp. $1,302,947.
  • Sewer Rehabilitation Cleaning and Inspection Project 10: The project will clean and inspect approximately 4.55 miles of pipe. Bids were from Hoerr Construction, Inc., $581,000, and National Power Rodding Corp. $1.6 million. Management recommended the Hoerr Construction bid.
  • Aeration Gallery Pipe Repairs Project 3. Bids were from The PIPCO Companies, Ltd. $439,000; GA Rich and Sons, $518,000; and Illinois Piping Corporation $569,000. Management recommended The PIPCO Companies bid.
  • Erosion Control Project 3. Construction bids for addressing erosion issues that affect District sewers at four locations have been received: J.C. Dillon, Inc. $713,000, and Stark Excavating, Inc. $790,000. Management recommended the J.C. Dillon bid.
