May 1: Based on Alan Alda’s 1981 film, “Four Seasons” is a series about three couples: Kate (Tina Fey) and Jack (Will Forte), Nick (Steve Carell) and Anne (Kerri Kenney-Silver), and Danny (Colman Domingo) and Claude (Marco Calvani). Their tradition of seasonal getaways is upended when one couple announces they’re divorcing. Over the seasons of one year, they all cope with old and new issues, friends and partners. At times funny or sad; overall heartwarming, Netflix.

May 2: “Thunderbolts” might be Marvel mimicking DC’s “Suicide Squad,” but its cast and transitional place in the MCU makes it a good risk. Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell and David Harbour are a few of the eccentric anti-heroes; Julia Louis-Dreyfuss is the mystery-woman boss. In theaters.

Starring Benicio del Toro as a European plutocrat, “The Phoenician Scheme” has an impressive supporting cast: Bryan Cranston, Benedict Cumberbatch, Hope Davis, Tom Hanks, Scarlett Johansson and Jeffrey Wright. In theaters.

May 7: “Hummingbirds of Hollywood” is an episode of “Nature,” the decades-old documentary series here focusing on a woman who cares for injured hummingbirds in the heart of Hollywood. Despite the jaded image of “Tinseltown,” an almost magical feeling emerges from selfless kindness, healing and love. PBS.

May 8: Reba McEntire returns to host the 60th Country Music Awards at the Ford Center in Frisco, Texas. Amazon Prime.

May 23: “Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning is Tom Cruise’s eighth in the series of spy-themed actioners based on the popular TV series of the late ’60s and early ’70s. Here, Cruise’s Ethan Hunt is hunting a rogue agent (Esai Morales) who’s seeking an Artificial Intelligence that can get all Terminator on the world. Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames are back; Hayley Atwell co-stars; and featured are Angela Bassett and Nick Offerman. In theaters.

May 26: On hiatus since 2022, “The American Music Awards” returns with its 51st show — after leaving long-time home ABC-TV. Jennifer Lopez is set to host, from Las Vegas. CBS.
