Legendary Hollywood song-and-dance man Fred Astaire stars as a Hollywood song-and-dance man persuaded to star in a Broadway musical at downtown Peoria’s nonprofit Apollo Theater on Saturday, April 9.

“The Band Wagon,” which co-stars Cyd Charisse, was directed by Vincente Minnelli and written by Betty Comden and Adolph Green (“Singin’ in the Rain,” “On the Town,” “The Barkleys of Broadway”). The Oscar-nominated movie also features Oscar Levant and Nanette Fabray and musical numbers such as “That’s Entertainment,” “A Shine on Your Shoes” and “Dancing in The Dark.”
