Remember when candidate John F. Kennedy, back in the 60’s felt it important to reassure groups of ministers that his being a practicing Catholic would not influence his decisions should be become President?
In an interview with Republican candidate Rick Santorum, I watched Bill O’Reilly take umbrage with his thinking that O’Reilly, being a Catholic too, would agree with Santorum’s seeming to crusade against contraceptives, in discussing the Griswold Supreme Court decision which legalized the sale of artificial birth control.
At the time when some far right politicians have raised the “specter” of Sharia Law replacing our laws, will there be concerns raised about a Republican candidate for President being unduly influenced by his religious ideology?
