On September 9, 2010 the Peoria County Genealogical Society is featuring new beginnings. In conjunction with the “Who Do You Think You Are” series currently in repeats this month on NBC television, the society is sponsoring a membership drive and the opportunity for you to learn how to find out who you are. Membership in the society allows you the chance for community involvement in genealogy, help in research and helping share the history of your county. Come and explore the possibilities.
“I shook my family tree and…” will be a fascinating talk by Mary Fouts, our guest speaker at the September 9, 2010 meeting. For over 50 years, Mary has spent countless hours teaching others the art of genealogy research. She is a charter member of the Tazewell County Genealogical Society, writes a column for the Pekin Daily Times and teaches genealogy classes at Illinois Central College through the Adult Continuing Education Program.
The Peoria County Genealogical Society general meeting will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2010, at 101 State Street, the location of the genealogy collection for the Peoria Public Library. Meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. There is ample parking near the building and it is handicapped accessible.
