Peoria Disposal Company will host a public program on their plans for expanding the Peoria City/County Municipal Waste Landfill. They are proposing a piggy-back addition to the existing municipal waste landfill cell No. 2 rather than closing No. 2 and opening No. 3.

The public meeting will be on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at the Grand Hotel (formerly a Holiday Inn), Brandywine Drive, Peoria, IL.

This presentation is important for the public to attend simply because this plan from PDC will extend the existence of landfill cell No. 2 for another 60 years. The plan does not include opportunities to engage new technologies in landfill safety during that 60 years.
