RIVERPLEX HOSTS GIRL’S SUMMER BASKETBALL CAMP & LEAGUE – The RiverPlex is hosting a Girl’s Summer Basketball Camp, for ages 8 to 12. The two-day camp will focus on dribbling, passing and shooting. Emphasis is placed on sports basics, team play and sportsmanship. Cost is $45 per player and includes a t-shirt. The camp will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, June 19 and 20, from 6-8 pm at the RiverPlex. Registration at the RiverPlex for both the camp and league. RIVERPLEX SUMMER DAY CAMP – Have a blast during your summer break from school at the RiverPlex Summer Day Camp! Extended hours allow parents to drop off as early as 7:00 am and pick up by 5:30 pm. This camp is for children ages 5 to 12. Each week has a theme and includes activities based on the theme. Children should bring their own lunch. Asnack & drink provided in the afternoon. Don’t forget a swimsuit & towel. RiverPlex is partnering with the OSF MarketPlace on site to offer lunch to day camp children for $5 a day. Included in the lunch is a sandwich, (Turkey or Ham), string cheese, apple, animal crackers and a juice box. Lunch orders need to be placed a week in advance in order to fulfill requests. When registering, indicate whether your child would like turkey or ham. SENIOR MEN’S CITY GOLF TOURNAMENT – The Peoria Park District’s Senior Men’s City golf tournament will have qualifying on June 5 and 6th. Match Play is June 11-15 at Donovan Golf Course. HERSHEY TRACK AND FIELD MEET PEORIA PARK DISTRICT – The Peoria Park District will sponsor the 2012 Hershey Track & Field Meet on June 2 beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Peoria Stadium. The event is free, registration is required. Events include the 50, 100, 200 and 400 meter dash, 800 and 1600 meter run, 4×100 meter relay, standing long jump and softball throw. Winners advance to the state meet to compete for a trip to Nationals in Hershey, PA.Registration forms are at the Glen Oak Park Pavilion or online at http://www.peoriaparks.org/running. A copy of the child’s birth certificate is required.
