Springdale Cemetery will again participate in the national Wreaths Across America program on Saturday, December 15. The ceremony begins indoors at 11:00 a.m. at the Cemetery’s Volunteer & Maintenance Building, and similar ceremonies will take place concurrently across the nation. Immediately following the program, attendees will then adjourn to Soldiers Hill to place pine holiday wreaths on veteran gravestones. The Wreaths program seeks to ensure that our veterans’ resting places are appropriately decorated for the Christmas season. The event is free and open to the public.
Individuals, businesses, and organizations are invited to sponsor wreaths by visiting the Wreaths Across America website at: www.wreathsacrossamerica.org in order to assist with the project. Wreaths may be purchased either on-line or by mail at a cost of $15.00 each. Springdale should be designated as the recipient, and the Springdale Historic Preservation Foundation should be designated as the sponsoring group (ILSHPF01). Orders must be placed no later than Monday, November 26, to ensure that the wreaths are credited properly and that the shipment will arrive on time. Further information may be obtained by contacting the Cemetery at 681-1400.
