Parsing Language: Accurate or Inflammatory

I assume that in a paper the size of the Community Word the Managing Editor must double as a reporter. I do believe, however, that person should keep news articles and editorials separate.  In the September issue, Clare Howard attempted to combine the two different columns. She starts off the item entitled: “Deceptive or Informative: Pro-choice and anti-choice people go to-to-toe on North University” sounding a news article. But throughout the article she sounds more like an editor instead of a reporter.  She consistently used terminology favorable to the abortionists such as referring to the team, “ICAT” as “Choice Action Team” whereas she refers to the pro-life group as “anti-choice.” Perhaps Ms. Howard could have said pro-abortion and “pro-life;” or possibly “Death Action Team” and “Anti-death” group.  Of course that would not be “Politically Correct.”  It would, however, be more correct. For “Pro-life” people are truly Pro-choice and if individuals were really intent on making good choices at the right times, then our country would be well on our way toward ending this culture of death.

I have been reading the Community Word 1977 when it debuted as the West Bluff Word. I hope  I can continue to do so in the future.
