Two familiar faces are leaving City Hall during May. Carole Stephens city clerk, and Marge Maroon, administrative assistant, have helped many of us during their tenure at City Hall. I know I will miss their assistance and wish them both good health and good times.
Deputy Lanphear presented information at the May meeting about scams and fraud including home repair, credit card, insurance fraud, utility accounts, loan scams including the “help get me out of jail calls” scam. Unless the call initiates with you, never provide personal information and never hesitate to call 911. Deputy Jason Buckley, of the canine unit, will be the guest speaker at the next “Watch” meeting 6 p.m. June 10 at City Hall.
West Peoria Beautification Committee planted the public areas late in the spring this year due to rainy weather. Everyone can help keep West Peoria beautiful by keeping a beautiful, neat lawn and storing waste receptacles and other clutter out of public view. This will help West Peoria in preparation for the upcoming influx of visitors for the annual July Fourth parade and flag raising. Do all you can to impress those from outside our community that indeed “living is best to the west of Peoria.” Interested in volunteering to help the Beautification Committee, call Maggie Moore at 673-0535. Additional help will be needed this year as the national marching band from Clonmel, Ireland, will be appearing in our event. Interested in nominating the grand marshal for this year’s parade? Review the website at the cityofwestpeoria.com for more details and dates for the nomination.
The next meeting of the West Peoria Residents’ Association will be 6 p.m. June 18 in City Hall. This is a new meeting time. Valarie Marek, FRC, is scheduled to speak. New president April Dukes will be presiding over the meeting.
