The League of Women Voters of Greater Peoria invites the public to attend a discussion of “Money in Politics” at 6 p.m. Aug. 26 at Advanced Medical Transport, 1718 N. Sterling.
Topics for discussion will include “dark money,” “PAC’s” vs “SuperPAC’s” and the impact of the Citizens United ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court compared with the court’s earlier rulings. All of these shape how money is used to influence the outcomes of political campaigns.
The League is a non-partisan, issues oriented, volunteer, member-directed organization committed to open, responsive and effective government brought about by informed, involved citizens. Membership in the Greater Peoria League is open to both men and women in Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford counties. For more information, go to www.lwvgp.org.
