Benefit for East Bluff Community Center. The East Bluff Sunrise Run on Oct. 10 will be a 5K run described as traversing “the tree-lined streets in Peoria’s East Bluff neighborhood,” where it will benefit the East Bluff Community Center, 512 E. Kansas St.
Starting at sunrise, 6:52 a.m., the fund raiser will wrap up with a pancake and sausage breakfast at the center, where child and youth development programs, plus family and community enrichment and education take place.
Peorian Steve Fairbanks is coordinating the event, which is being co-sponsored by Peoria Disposal Company and Illinois American Water Company thanks to City Council member Tim Riggenbach, Fairbanks said.

Event packet pick-up is set for Running Central between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Oct. 9. Race-day registration will be 6‐6:30 a.m.

The Jackson Corners Neighborhood Association. Peoria Police Chief Jerry Mitchell will speak at the Jackson Corners Neighborhood Association meeting 6:30 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Child Advocacy Center, 501 E. Gift, according to president Mary Genzel.
The neighborhood group also has decided to extend its monthly meetings to continue through the winter.
“We will be meeting year-round unless there is a major snowstorm,” she said. “Everyone is welcome.”
