This label may start appearing in grocery stores soon to indicate food was grown on farmland transitioning from chemical to organic. Clarkson Grain, located about two hours southeast of Peoria, is using this ECOCERT label until the U.S. Department of Agriculture approves a transitional program and issues its own label, something expected this summer. Clarkson will fold its own program into the USDA program. ECOCERT was founded in France in 1991 and conducts organic inspections in more than 80 countries.
