Soon after the first hard frost of the fall season, the West Peoria Beautification Committee will be clearing flowers from community planters and businesses. Then they will be hanging the garlands and lights for the holiday season. The West Peoria Seniors On the Go group will visit the Festival of Trees on Senior Day, Friday, Nov. 18 at First Federated Church. Anyone interested in joining the group should call Loretta Fehl at 637-0326 or Maggie Moore at 673-0535. The November Neighborhood Watch Meeting is 6 p.m. Nov. 9 in City Hall. The Residents Association is hosting a Halloween Party for West Peoria children from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Franciscan Recreation Center. There are multiple be-witching activities for the children during that time. Another children’s activity is planned for 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 3. Waffles, donuts, pastries, coffee and orange juice will be served. Santa will be available for pictures as well as games, a coloring contest and fun for all ages.
The Nov. 8 election will be at the Franciscan Recreation Complex for precincts WP 003 and WP004. Precincts WP001 and WP002 will vote in the West Peoria City Garage on Hillside Ave. Early voting is 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 3 in City Hall.
Important township election information concerning this season’s caucuses will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6. The Republican caucus will be held in the West Peoria City Garage at 1322 Hillside while the Democrat caucus will meet in the township building on Rohmann Ave. Township elections are held in caucus format where citizens attend the caucus for their particular political party. Nominations/candidates this year for election are: supervisor, town clerk, and four trustees. All positions need to be filled. Be sure to bring someone of the same political party to nominate you. Township responsibilities include general assistance, emergency assistance and community involvement. Contact the township office with questions at: 674-0462.

Boy Scout Troop 11 will be selling fresh Christmas wreaths and butter braids beginning Oct. 24. It will be necessary to place an order immediately by contacting Bob DeSutter at 674-6668 or any Troop 11 scout. Wreaths will be delivered on Nov. 19.
Time to plan for decorating your property for the holiday season. Judging will begin Dec. 6. Winners will be announced Dec. 20. Four winners will be chosen, one in each category: Simplicity, Vegas Style, Religious, and Holiday Theme. Nomination forms can be found at Haddad’s or the West Peoria Residents’ Association.
