Yard waste pickup begins April 7. With warm weather fast approaching, please be sure that grass/weeds are kept trimmed and mowed. Try to bring your garbage cans in from the curbs and sidewalks as soon after garbage pick-up as possible.
This year’s township meeting will be held 7:30 p.m. April 11 at the township building, 2516 W. Rohmann.
Clean up day will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 29 at the West Peoria City Garage, 1322 Hillside. In addition to furniture and household items, rimless tires are accepted for a $3 charge for passenger car tires, $5 for truck tires. Take the time to get rid of outdated medications and bring them to be properly disposed. Electronics recycling, including cell phones, computers, monitors, televisions and microwaves are also accepted. Help with unloading vehicles is available. Volunteers are needed. The City of West Peoria and the Township jointly invite students from Manual Academy, Notre Dame, Calvin Coolidge and St. Mark Grade School to learn “hands-on” how their local governments work by participating in Government Day 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 21.
There is a new evening deputy in our community, Garen Demery who visited the Neighborhood Watch during the March meeting. Deputy Cody Meeks is now working day hours. Detective Vissering will be the guest speaker at the Neighborhood Watch meeting 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 12 in City Hall.
The Beautification Committee met in March to plan what is needed to get ready for planting in May. Anyone interested in helping beautifying our area can contact Maggie Moore at 673-0535.

The City of West Peoria is setting up rental property registration and needs your help in updating and ensuring the accuracy of the city records. The city is asking all landlords within the city limits to file a residential rental property registration form for each rental property. It is an easy process, just contact Pam at 674-1993 or stop by City Hall.
Western Avenue Greenway Gardens
The West Bluff is home to a community garden that has been in existence for several years. Garden plots are available in the Western Avenue Greenway Garden located between Laura and Bradley avenues. Each plot measures approximately 9 feet by 11 feet. The area will be tilled and ready for planting.
