CINEMA

  • Sequel alert! It’s tempting to speculate “Equalizer 3” to be Robert McCall vs. John Wick, but it’s not. Denzel Washington, returns as the vigilante on Sept. 1, and we hope the 69-year-old actor didn’t pull any muscles in his return.

  • “The League” is the critically acclaimed documentary about baseball’s Negro Leagues, now available for a fee on Amazon and other streamers. (For another sports documentary, check out “Goliath,” the story of basketball great Wilt Chamberlain, available on Showtime.)

THEATER

  • “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical” will be staged at Peoria Players Sept. 8-10 and 14-17. Dedra Baker stars as King, with Adam and Kates Sitton as Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil.

TV

  • The premiere of “Krapopolis” is Sept. 24 on Fox. The animated comedy, set in mythical ancient Greece, focuses on a group of humans, gods and monsters trying to get by in a place “that lives up to its name.” There’s King Tyrannis, his mother, the goddess Deliria, and his father, the mortal Shlub, plus siblings sired by a mermaid, a cyclops and other cross-species weirdness.
