As West Peorians track the evolution of West Peoria City Hall, demolition will begin soon at the intersection of Rohmann and Sterling, and plans are underway for utilizing this space in the best interests of residents.
One of the latest developments is the potential for a new banking option in West Peoria. At the Sept. 12 West Peoria City Council meeting, Mayor James Dillon reported that the city has been working with the Bank of Farmington for city banking needs and a possible bank branch in West Peoria. While a final decision about a physical bank location in the city is still pending, talks are underway for an Interactive Teller Machine (ITM), similar to an ATM with video ability, near City Hall.
ITMs are a type of self-service banking kiosk that allows customers to perform a variety of transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and check cashing, with the assistance of a remote teller via video conferencing. ITMs offer several benefits for the community, including:
- Increased access to banking services: ITMs can be located in convenient locations, such as grocery stores, pharmacies, and other retail establishments, making it easier for people to access banking services without traveling to a traditional bank branch.
- Extended hours of operation: ITMs are typically available 24/7, providing residents access to banking services outside traditional bank hours.
- Improved security: ITMs are equipped with security features such as cameras and cash safes, making them a safe and secure way to conduct banking transactions.
The addition of banking options in the city will be a benefit to residents. West Peorians are encouraged to stop at West Peoria City Hall to see the plans moving along for providing residents with the services they need and deserve. The evolution of West Peoria City Hall and the potential for a new banking option are just two examples of city leaders’ commitment to serving its residents.
Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony festive start Holidays: The City of West Peoria and the West Peoria Residents Association are hosting the fifth annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27. The event will be at West Peoria City Hall, 2506 W. Rohmann Ave.
The community comes together to celebrate the start of the holiday season with this festive event. There will be door prizes, crafts for children, a light dinner provided by the West Peoria Lighting District, and a special appearance by Santa Claus.
After the tree lighting ceremony, it’s time to decorate for the holiday lighting contest. Residents are encouraged to decorate their homes and businesses for the holidays. The contest is open to all residents and businesses in the community. Three winners will be announced in December and will receive prizes. The contest is a great way to get into the holiday spirit and to show community pride. Seeing all the creative decorations throughout the community is also a lot of fun.
