A State of Illinois Capital Project grant of more than $300,000 soon could help WTVP-TV 47 address some of its infrastructure and technological needs.
“I put that [request] in two or three years ago,” said state Sen. David Koehler (D-Peoria). “It was never released, so when all the turmoil happened, I put it on hold. Recently I had the state release that.”
According to the request, the one-time grant will be used to upgrade the public television station’s roof, correct several HVAC problems, repair damaged and deteriorating concrete and asphalt areas, expand security locks and video surveillance, and improve video storage systems.
Less vital needs to be funded include carpeting, lighting, and the building’s back-gate entrance.
Koehler Chief of Staff Jennifer Allison added, “The timeline is unknown based on when the work is done, when the paperwork is submitted, [and] then however long the processing takes on the side of the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.”
