ART EXHIBITS
- Visit local galleries for studio tours and opening receptions for “First Friday” on June 6.
- Artwork from “Paint The Path” events will be exhibited at the Community Gallery Wall at Five Points Washington through June 22. Also, a Student Art Fair is set for there June 14 to raise funds for the BRIDGE Education Foundation
- The Foster Gallery hosts “Reckoning Home” by Angel Ambrose and “In Full Bloom” by Oksana Greer through June 25.
COMEDY
- Four podcast comedians bring their distinctive standup talents to the Civic Center’s Prairie Home Alliance Theater on June 27 in “Killers of Kill Tony.”
MUSIC
- The Bach Festival runs June 1-6 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Peoria.
- The Peoria Municipal Band’s summer music begins June 1. Through August 10, the band will perform Sundays at Glen Oak Park and Wednesdays on Water Street near State Street.
- Arts at ICC is bringing the Big Band sounds of the Glenn Miller Orchestra to ICC’s Performing Arts Center on June 10
- Stephanie Aaron performs June 13 and John Miller & The Romaniacs perform June 27 at the Contemporary Art Center for “Live at the Five Spot.”
- The ’50s-’60s vocal quartet the Coasters (“Searchin’,” “Yakety Yak”) perform at ICC Performing Arts Center June 18.
- The Peoria Heights Community Band performs June 19 at Tower Park in Peoria Heights.
THEATER
- The show will go on at Corn Stock Theatre as the company waits for its new tent to arrive later in the summer season. Meanwhile, CST is staging the musical version of “9 To 5” at Dunlap High School on May 30-June 1 and June 4-7.
- The Broadway in Peoria series is bringing in the traveling troupe for the musical comedy version of “The Addams Family” June 17-18 at the Peoria Civic Center’s Prairie Home Alliance Theater.
- Eastlight Theatre is hosting the regional premiere of “Ride the Cyclone,” an offbeat comedy about six teens in an accident telling stories to a mechanical fortune teller for a chance to recover, presented June 13-21.
- Chillicothe Players Theatre presents “Disney’s Dare to Dream Jr.” June 19- 21.
- The Peoria Public Library is hosting two author visits this month: Novelist Victoria Christopher Murray (“Stand Your Ground”) on June 5, and graphic novelist Jamar Nicholas, above, (“Leon: Protector of the Playground”) on June 10 — both at the Lincoln Branch Library.
- “Whisper and Shout,” an open-mic night for poetry, takes place at the Contemporary Art Center on June 5.
CLASSES & LECTURES
- The Peoria Historical Society has scheduled tours at Pettengill-Morron house on June 8 and 15 and tours at Flanagan house June 15.
