A new and improved tutoring and career system is arriving at the Peoria Public Library. The Peoria Public Library will be working with Brainfuse, an online learning system, to provide free tutoring and learning services, as well as career help, to library patrons.
The Brainfuse learning system allows the user to log in to his or her profile. From there, users can enter the subject and learning level of the work, and can then be provided with assistance including chatting with online tutors, using a virtual whiteboard, and the ability to mark, save, and print lessons and work done through the program.
Learning assistance is offered to students from elementary school through college level, as well as those in adult education. The system also offers preparation assistance for tests such as the GED, SAT, and ACT. Subjects covered by the Brainfuse learning system include varying levels of science, math, social studies, English, and writing. Brainfuse also provides essay writing help. Users can email essays or other writing projects to a tutor, and will receive a reply offering tips and assistance within 24 hours.
In addition to learning assistance, Brainfuse also offers career advice and assistance. Users can take advantage of live career coaching to assess which jobs and career tracks are suited to their individual strengths and skills.
The career assistance system offers resources including personality and career assessment tests, local job listings, and job search tips. The system also offers resume critique assistance including a resume lab, in which users can send resumes to experts and receive an analysis reply within 24 hours, and templates and resources to help users begin to write or to improve their resumes.
Peoria Public Library patrons will have free access to these features with an active Peoria Public Library card. Teachers working within the Peoria public or private schools who do not live in Peoria may obtain a special “Teacher’s Card” that will allow them to use Brainfuse with their class. They ca apply at any library location with a school I.D. For more information on Brainfuse, visit: www.peoriapubliclibrary.com.
