The Fine Arts Department of the Peoria Park District received a grant from the Illinois Arts Council in the amount of $5,000 for general operating support of fine arts programming.

The funding will be used to support programs in drama, dance, art and music in the Peoria community. The mission of the program is to increase exposure to the arts to prospective students beyond their school programs, target the underserved student population to encourage their participation in fine arts classes, and share fine arts performances with the community.

The Peoria Park District holds performances by the Community Children’s Theatre, Summer Band and Orchestra, Park Troupe Mirage, and the Park Players. Other fine arts programs include theater education for children at various schools, music lessons, and fine arts classes.
