There is a Peoria Public Library Open Daily Even During Construction

Confused about where you can go for library service? It is understandable! While Peoria Public Library finishes the last of our construction projects, you can now enjoy one of two state-of-the-art library facilities any day of the week!

The McClure, Lincoln and Lakeview Branches are temporarily closed. Library service is still available every day of the week at the Main Library and North Branch. Main Library is closed on Sundays and North Branch is closed on Tuesdays. Found at opposite ends of Peoria, the two locations both provide quick and easy pickup of holds. Customers can reserve materials from the Internet and  can be delivered to the most convenient location. Both locations  offer drive-up book drops! Materials may be renewed online at www.peoriapubliclibrary.org or by calling 309-497-2000 during business hours.

McClure Branch is set to reopen within the next few months. The makeover includes a freshly restored interior and state-of-the-art features such as self-checks. New furniture, fresh paint and flooring will make the WPA era building attractive again.

Lincoln Branch and Lakeview Branch closed on July 25 and will reopen when construction is complete. For Lincoln Branch that will be later in 2011 and for Lakeview Branch construction will keep the facility closed until sometime in the first quarter of  of 2012 for the work to be finished and the branch to be refurnished and opened. Once Lakeview Branch reopens, it too will be open several evenings a week and on Saturdays and Sundays all year. In the past Lakeview Branch closed on Sundays in the summer.

Library Director Ed Szynaka says, “A temporary inconvenience for a permanent improvement!” Only a short time left until your new Peoria Public Library reaches 100% completion!
