Home Educator Classes at the Peoria Zoo – The Peoria Zoo offers classes for children ages 5-13 who are home educated. Make science more exciting as we explore a new topic each month that helps to meet state education standards. Parents are welcome to attend but are not required. If classes fill, alternate dates may be available. Fee for each class: $5 for Zoo members/$9 for non-members.

Zoo Tots Program at Peoria Zoo – Peoria Zoo offers education programs for children ages 2 to 4. The program, Zoo Tots, is designed for you and your child to explore the amazing world of animals. Fee for each class is $5 for Zoo members/$10 for non-members.

Jim Markum Swing Band to Perform – The Jim Markum Swing Band will perform at the Peoria Park District’s Glen Oak Amphitheatre on Wednesday, August 17. The band will play from 7:00-9:00 p.m. and admission is free.
The Jim Markum Swing Band is an 11-piece group featuring Jim Markum on lead trumpet. Their setlists are known to include swing, blues, big-band favorites, and modern pop hits.

An Adult Park District Activity includes: Adult Co-Rec Kickball – The Peoria Park District will offer a Kickball League starting Sunday, August 21 at Peoria Stadium. Co-rec teams of 10-15 players (with at least three female players) will attempt to outrun their opponent with a little friendly and enjoyable competition.
Team Fees are $75 for resident teams and $80 for non-resident teams. Player Fee is $10 for residents and $15 for non-residents. Registration packets are available at Glen Oak Park Pavilion, Franciscan Recreation Complex, RiverPlex, or online at www.peoriaparks.org. Please note that online registration is not available; registration packets must be returned to the Glen Oak Park Pavilion.
