There Goes the Neighborhood
By Ed Klein, Peoria, IL
What do you do when you find out that two guys living down the street turn out to be
homos? They’ve been living there together for five years and I never knew it. If I woulda
known it, I would sure as the devil have moved out of here. Now the neighborhood’s
ruined, them living there like that! And now because Illinois makes it legal, I heard they
even want to get married. Married – two guys – can you believe it? I used to speak to
them if we’d meet on the street. I sure hope none of the neighbors ever saw me do that
and take it to mean that I knew about their sinful lifestyle and approved of it.
Let me tell you, even if I lose money, I’m putting my house up for sale and getting out
of here. At first it was those two. Now who knows if somebody else like that moves in.
And what’s an even greater problem is that I’ll have to ask my minister if all that has
somehow affected by marriage.
Can you imagine, living there five years with that going on right here in my
neighborhood? All I can say is, the world is going to hell in a handbasket!
Resolutions for Women
By Dolores Klein, Peoria, IL
A woman has been made head of General Motors. A woman can become President if
Hilary runs. Women are mayors and Governors. Yes, ceilings are being breached.
Sister Joan Chitister urges all of us to see the multimedia report from Maria Shriver.
In it she reports and examines the alarming insecurity of American women and their
families. (in National Catholic Report, Chitester)
She believes younger women will find there is an invisible ceiling hanging over their
heads. Ancient attitudes and unchanging roles taken for granted, never to be admitted,
nor challenged. Now unspoken and very much in place. Unchallenged, they very much
affect both men and women very deeply.
In 1978, National NOW issued “A Homemakers Bill of Rights.” If we peruse it, there are
aspirations there that are those of all women, for women still DO IT ALL, no matter how
high they rise in the world outside the home.
Common Core
By Terry Rowe, Peoria, IL
The Common Core State Standards involve much more than education.
The first obvious issue is the vast amount of money involved in the educational
industry. The money is the magnet that brings the Wall Street Hedge Fund Traders into
the game.
The obscure issue is called Big Data. The long term rewards to those who control the
data are almost beyond description. Think in terms of a complete personnel file, without
competition, on every student on the planet, and then extend that file forward for forty
years. The marketing potential will stagger the imagination.
The third issue is the opportunity to indoctrinate the future citizens of the world, not
individual countries, without interference.
