July 4 – Flanagan House Museum 4th of July Fireworks – 6:00 p.m. – midnight @ Peoria Historical Society, 942 NE Glen Oak Ave. Call 309-674-1921. The backyard opens at 6:00pm/fireworks begin at 9:00pm. Come early to get a great spot, bring your lawn chairs or blankets or picnic baskets. We offer ice cold canned soda, bottled water & fresh-popped popcorn for $1.00. Admission: $5 for adults/ $3 for kids. Street parking available. Add a museum tour for just $5.

July 11 – Flying Fish Festival and Bow Fishing Tournament 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p. @ Bass Pro Shops, 1000 Bass Pro Dr., East Peoria. A family-friendly festival highlighted by the first inaugural bow fishing tournament! The event includes cash prizes, games & educational displays, & local chefs preparing dishes w/flying fish at Bass Pro Shops.

July 12 – I Spy a Wish Team Adventure is a driving scavenger hunt to raise money for Make-A-Wish® Illinois in order to grant the wishes of four area children. Each registered team will use clues to find sponsored stops in the Peoria area. Teams will take a photo at each location and meet Make-A-Wish kids throughout the adventure. July 12 – Bishop Hill Fiber Guild will meet at 10:00 a.m. at the Methodist Church in West Jersey, IL when Lee Breeggemann will show us how to make a “sit-upon.” All those interested in fiber (spinners, knitters, crocheters, basket makers, beaders, weavers, etc.) are welcome to attend.
