Landscape waste pick-up for 2016 will begin on the first Friday in April. Boy Scout Troop 11 is again selling trash bags from March 21 to April 11. Contact any Troop 11 scout or Bob DeSutter, scout leader at 674-6668.

Each year, townships are mandated to host an annual town meeting so that their citizens can be informed of the last year’s activities and be updated on plans for the current year. This year’s annual meeting will be 7:30 p.m. April 12 in the township building, 2516 W. Rohmann Ave. All township citizens are invited to attend to learn about their township’s activities this past year and the plans for 2016.

Annual Clean-up Day will be held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday April 30 at the City Garage. Dumpsters will be available and will accept car tires for $3 each and truck tires for $5 each. Farm and tractor tires will not be accepted. Accepted electronic items include: VCRs, computers, printers, copiers, monitors and cell phones. Unused and expired medications will be collected for proper disposal. Food garbage, hazardous waste, paints, varnishes, oil, cleaning agents, chemicals, antifreeze, batteries and yard waste will not be accepted.

West Peoria Township and City invited selected students from Manual Academy, Notre Dame High School, Calvin Coolidge Middle School and St Mark’s to learn hands-on how their local government works through their participation in Government Day.

The next Neighborhood Watch meeting is 6 p.m. April 13 at City Hall. The Neighborhood Watch organization has created a Facebook page to share information on suspicious or criminal activity in our area.
