Marvel’s latest feature filmn, “Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness,” starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen and Chiwetel Ejiofor is set for a May 6 theatrical release.
STREAMING
Novelist Michael Connelly’s detective Harry Bosch returns May 6 in a 10-episode series on IMDb-TV. “Bosch: Legacy” brings back Titus Welliver in the title role, with Mimi Rogers and William Devane.
MUSIC
Six shows offer variety this month:
- The Music Scholarship Concert Series presents the Bradley Symphony Orchestra at BU’s Dingeldine Music Center the afternoon of May 1.
- Illinois Central College’s Concert Choir is scheduled to perform May 2 at the East Peoria campus’s Lecture/Recital Hall (Room 127F)
- Postponed by the pandemic, 2020’s “Metal Tour of the Year” arrives at the Peoria Civic Center Arena May 7, with headliners Megadeth and Lamb of God joined by special guests Trivium and In Flames.
- Also at the Civic Center, in the Theatre, the Grammy Award-nominated band NEEDTOBREATHE will perform an acoustic show May 14.
- Consummate Peoria jazz vocalist Judy Page will be featured at the Central Illinois Jazz Society’s May 15 concert at Trailside Event Center, with the CIJS House Band.
- The Peoria Public Library’s “Music at the McKenzie” series at its North Branch presents an eclectic, genre-blending program by Goodnight Gracie on May 22.
TELEVISION
The CW on May 31 is premiering a spinoff of its “Nancy Drew” series: “Tom Swift.” Tian Richards stars, a hero reimagined from its original youthful inventor (first published in 1910) to a gay African American billionaire struggling against a global conspiracy.
