West Peoria News: City of WP has programs to help improve our properties

APRIL SILVER

As we enter the spring season in West Peoria, residents can look forward to convenient yard waste collection, a new grant program for local businesses, and updates to existing property improvement programs. As fresh breezes of spring sweep through the landscape, look ahead for exciting developments within our community.

YARD WASTE COLLECTION: Convenient curbside yard waste collection will be available to West Peoria residents every Friday until Dec. 25, 2024. Residents must place paper bags or toters marked “yard waste” at the curb by 6 a.m. on the designated collection day.

SMALL BUSINESS ASSISTANCE PROGRAM: To further support and stimulate economic growth, a new grant program has been established specifically for local businesses for Fiscal Year 2025. This initiative aims to provide financial assistance to entrepreneurs and small business owners, enabling them to expand their operations, create new jobs, and contribute to the overall prosperity of our community.

GRANT PROGRAM UPDATES: In line with a commitment to enhancing the aesthetic appeal and livability of West Peoria, existing property improvement programs will be undergoing updates and enhancements. These programs offer incentives and resources to residents to improve their property. Residents can not only beautify their properties but also increase their value and contribute to the overall attractiveness of our neighborhoods. The City Council approved modifications to three of the five existing grant programs. In 2023, the five programs received 127 applications from residents and businesses. Property owners invested a combined total of $361,138 in various projects, and the City reimbursed $125,242. The table above provides a breakdown of 2023 participation.
