LOOK. IT’S MY BOOK! To Distribute Books for Summer Reading

The not-for-profit organization Look. It’s My Book!  is partnering with the Peoria Public Library in its last distribution of books for the year at 9: 30 a.m. on Thursday, May 21, at Irving Grade School, 519 NE Glendale, Peoria.

A teacher and child will be available and willing to speak about the importance of the program.

Look. It’s My Book! is committed to providing six new books each year to every Peoria School District pupil in kindergarten through fourth grade.  It has given away over 3,500 books this year. Contributions to Look. It’s My Book!  are tax deductible.

Children select the books with Look It’s My Book! from a list vetted by Accelerated Reader, a program used by District 150.  Research shows that the only way to get children to read more is to make it fun for them, while at the same time a child’s reading skills and school performance improve if there are books in the home.
