The Community Word received this emailed statement from Congressman Aaron Schock – marked as embargoed until after President Obama’s speech last night. Obviously he read the speech prior to its delivery. It’s no surprise that he doesn’t agree with the President. But it is disappointing that his attitude continues. Here’s his press release:
“After a month in our districts, we’ve all heard from the American people who have grave concerns about the Democrat plan for a government takeover of health care. I’m disappointed the President continued to push for a government option, despite the overwhelming opposition to such a plan by the public.
“While the status quo is unacceptable – we’ve all heard this speech before. What the American people want is a new plan – not a new speech.
“We need a bipartisan plan composed of regulatory reform and increased portability while simultaneously decreasing patient costs and frivolous lawsuits as well as waste, fraud and abuse. Such a plan will expand access to affordable health care and give families the freedom to choose the health care that fits their needs.”
