Foster Pet Outreach and Whitney Veterinary Hospital and Cat Care Clinic present “A Pawfect New Beginning”
Event includes educational workshops for current and future pet owners
It will be “A Pawfect New Beginning” at Whitney Veterinary Hospital and Cat Care Clinic on Sunday, November 8 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. when animal lovers hightail it to the veterinary hospital to meet dogs available for adoption from Foster Pet Outreach and enjoy educational workshops.
The event is free and open to the public. Guests can participate in hands-on workshops to learn about pet care, such as “Dog Training 101” where guests will learn how to teach dogs basic obedience commands. Guests will discover how old their pet is in “human years” during a workshop called “Your Aging Pet.” Veterinarians at Whitney Veterinary Hospital and Cat Care Clinic will conduct the educational workshops. Guests can also participate in workshops about cat care and animal law.
Additionally, guests can speak with representatives from Foster Pet Outreach about pet adoption and fostering opportunities. Currently, six cats and seven dogs are available for adoption from Foster Pet Outreach. The pets have been vaccinated, tested and treated for worms, fleas, ticks and ear mites, as well as spayed or neutered. All animals are micro-chipped. Dogs have been vaccinated for distemper, hepatitis, respiratory infections, Parvo virus and rabies. The adoption fee is $175 for cats and dogs.
“The recent economic downtown has resulted in numerous hardships for pet owners,” said Tanya Kokos, president of Foster Pet Outreach. “Pet food and veterinary care can be unaffordable for some pet owners. Unfortunately, animal rescue organizations, including Foster Pet Outreach, have seen an increase in surrendered animals and a decrease in adoption. Now more than ever, it is imperative to stress the importance of adoption.”
“Basic veterinary care is important for animals, and we’ve seen some pet owners struggling due to the loss of a job and economic hardship,” said Dr. Nancy Hayes, veterinarian and co-owner of Whitney Veterinary Hospital and Cat Care Clinic. “We want to empower pet owners through education in hopes that they will be better able to care for their pets.”
Tanya Kokos, Foster Pet Outreach president, and Dr. Nancy Hayes, veterinarian and co-owner of Whitney Veterinary Hospital and Cat Care Clinic, will be available for interviews.
