State Rep. Jehan Gordon (D-Peoria) will be hosting two seminars Thursday, November 5th at the PeoriaNEXT Innovation Center, located at 801 W. Main St. in Peoria to provide local entrepreneurs with valuable information about running a business.
A Business Services Workshop, facilitated by the Illinois Department of Employment Security, will cover some of the benefits and opportunities that are available to current business owners, such as Work Opportunity Tax Credits and advice related to unemployment insurance. The Business Services Workshop will be held from 9:00 AM to noon.
Another workshop entitled “How to Start a Small Business” is being co-hosted by the Peoria Small Business Development Center and is directed towards individuals or groups who are attempting to start their own business and need assistance with items like writing a business plan. The “How to Start a Small Business” workshop will take place from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
“Small business owners provide a great deal of support for our community and they should have the opportunity to know what resources are available to them,” Gordon said. “If you currently own a small business or have ever thought that you would make a great business owner, then these seminars are for you.”
If you have any questions about the seminars or would like to reserve a spot at either event, please contact Rep. Gordon’s constituent office at (309) 681-1992. Seating is limited.
