NAACP Activities featured on Local Cable Show
CAPtions, Peoria’s longest-running TV talk show, will examine the issue: “NAACP: Still Relevant after 100 years” on a broadcast airing Wednesday, November 11.
The sole guest will be Donald R. Jackson, President of both the Peoria Branch and State Office of the NAACP.
Topics include why the NAACP is still needed today; their work on a Rockford case that involves an alleged unjustified police shooting; and details of the upcoming Freedom Fund Banquet, where the late Senator Everett Dirksen of Pekin will be honored for his efforts in passing civil rights legislation.
Also included in the broadcast is a clip of comedian/activist Dick Gregory, who was the NAACP keynote speaker in 2007. footage from a 1993 CAPtions.
CAPtions will air on Wednesday, November 11 at 7:00 p.m. on Comcast Cable 22 in Peoria County; and 9:00 p.m. on ESC-TV Cable 22 in East Peoria, Creve Coeur and Washington.
