BU, IVCC establish Presidents Partnership Scholarship

Bradley University, in partnership with Illinois Valley Community College, has established a new competitive scholarship for IVCC students who transfer to Bradley beginning in fall 2010.

Bradley President Joanne Glasser joined IVCC President Jerry Corcoran in IVCC’s board room to sign the Presidents Partnership Scholarship agreement. Under the partnership, 20 students a year will be eligible to receive $3,500 in financial aid from Bradley. The scholarship, when combined with other Bradley-funded awards, will provide up to $8,500 per year for qualified IVCC students.

“The Presidents Partnership continues a long and rich partnership between Bradley University and IVCC to support and encourage scholarship among students who attend both of our institutions,” said Glasser. “This additional aid rewards students who study hard and pursue Bradley programs that are critical to the long-term economic vitality of our region.”

Corcoran said, “This initiative helps address the fundamental need for college affordability and is another example of the strong partnership IVCC has with Bradley.” “The Presidents Partnership Scholarship agreement speaks volumes about the ability of high quality teaching and learning private and public institutions like Bradley University and IVCC to work together for a common cause and I’m confident that more opportunities like this are on the horizon for all of us,” Corcoran added.

To qualify, IVCC students must have a cumulative 3.25 GPA or better in a minimum of 30 transferable hours. At Bradley, they must maintain a 3.0 GPA while pursuing a degree in engineering, education, nursing, entrepreneurship or pre-professional health. “We’ve found IVCC students well prepared to meet Bradley’s educational challenges,” Glasser said. “We encourage IVCC students to apply for these competitive scholarships and become part of the Bradley family.” “The timing of the Presidents Partnership Scholarship couldn’t be better,” Glasser said. “We expect students who take advantage of this financial aid eventually graduating from IVCC and Bradley will make significant contributions to the community.” The application deadline for fall 2010 is Feb. 1.
