New Playground Equipment Dedicated at Open House
The Salvation Army Child Care Center is holding an Open House and Dedication Ceremony for its new playground equipment this afternoon. The playground equipment was purchased through the estate of Gayle Antle Brown, a Child Care teacher who died a year ago in December.
The Child Care Center is located in downtown Peoria, adjacent to The Salvation Army Divisional Headquarters. The Open House will be from 3:30- 6pm, with the brief dedication ceremony to be held at 4:30 this afternoon.
Operating since 1934, The Salvation Army Child Care Center is the oldest continuously running child care center in Peoria. The average tenure of teachers at the Center is 15 years, creating a stable environment for children.
“We were very blessed to have Gayle teach here for over 21 years and this new playground equipment will help carry her spirit and love for the children she taught forward,” said Sandy Bendickson, center director. “Her fellow teachers have worked hard to get this accomplished and we are very pleased with the new equipment.”
