Senate Panel to Discuss Progress of Diversity in Public Pension Systems

Illinois State Senator Kwame Raoul (D – Chicago) and members of the Illinois Senate’s Pensions and Investments Committee will hold hearings today and Tuesday in an effort to bridge the historic disparities that have existed with pension investment firms in Illinois.

This will be the 7th hearing, in as many years, which will discuss the progress of minority and women investment professionals in the state’s public pension firms. The General Assembly’s efforts to encourage Illinois pension funds to use qualified minority and female owned financial service firms are a part of a larger battle to ensure that the
lingering vestiges of discrimination are fully dismantled.
