Tree of Lights Campaign Gets Boost From Area Business
The Salvation Army is approaching the final days of its red kettle portion of its Tree of Lights Campaign and continues to get help from area businesses. With cold weather slowing the momentum at the kettles this past week, Zanfel Laboratories, a Peoria business, has again stepped up- sending a challenge to the community to help fill kettles on the last two days of kettles, Thursday, December 23 and Friday, December 24. Zanfel will match kettle donations up to $10,000. (A normal kettle day is about $6,200- hence the two days- up to a total of $10,000- not $10,000 each day.
To date, $777,030 has been raised toward the $1,430,000 dollar goal for the Tree of Lights Campaign. Meeting the goal means that The Salvation Army will be able to continue providing for the many thousands of individuals who will rely on the Army to be their angels of mercy during 2011.The campaign runs through the end of January.
“We sincerely want to thank Zanfel Laboratories for their generous donation and hope it challenges others to consider donating at the kettles on the 23rd & 24th “ said Diaz. “These folks are certainly angels of mercy and this match will hopefully put us another step closer to meeting our goal.” People can still sign up to ring this week by visiting www.ringbells.org and clicking on Peoria to see what shifts are available.
