PEDIATRIC DIABETES RESOURCE CENTER MOVES TO NEW HOME ON OSF SAINT FRANCIS MEDICAL CENTER CAMPUS

The Pediatric Diabetes Resource Center (PDRC) is now seeing patients at its new home in the Gerlach building on the OSF Saint Francis Medical Center campus.

Established in 1980 as the first comprehensive pediatric diabetes center in central Illinois, the PDRC is a joint effort between Children’s Hospital of Illinois and the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria.

Previously located in the Easter Seals building on East Armstrong Avenue in Peoria, the PDRC moved to the first floor of the Gerlach building at OSF Saint Francis to expand space for patients. There are four exam rooms, three education rooms, and expanded waiting/play areas in the PDRC’s new home, which formerly housed the St. Jude Midwest Affiliate.

The PDRC follows more than 750 children with diabetes from 40 counties throughout central Illinois and is the only comprehensive pediatric diabetes center in Illinois outside of Chicago. It is nationally recognized by the American Diabetes Association for meeting national standards for diabetes self-management education.

The PDRC staff includes five pediatric diabetes specialist physicians, five nurse educators, registered dietitians, and licensed clinical social workers.

The PDRC accepts referrals from throughout Illinois and neighboring states. To learn more, call the Pediatric Diabetes Resource Center at 309.624.2480 or toll free at 888.436.2278.
