Please come to Bradley University to welcome newly elected Illinois Lt. Governor Sheila Simon to the Hilltop. She offers a lifetime and legacy of public service. Lt. Governor Simon is a lawyer, teacher and working mother. Her record includes serving as a Jackson County prosecutor, a Carbondale city council member, and a member of the Illinois Reform Commission.

Lt. Governor Simon acts as Governor Pat Quinn’s point person on education reform, standing up for Illinois children and promoting K to 20 instruction across the state. She serves as Chair of the Illinois River Coordinating Council which seeks to protect and restore our state’s greatest natural resource. She has a long-time commitment to addressing and preventing violence, particularly against women and children. And, she is the leading example in her quest to make government more transparent and accessible to all Illinois residents.

The Women in Leadership speaker series is held in honor of Bradley’s founder Lydia Moss Bradley, a member of the National Women’s Hall of Fame.
