Lawmaker seeks to recognize businesses that are active in our community

In an effort to recognize businesses in the Peoria area who support a variety of community programs, state Rep. Jehan Gordon (D-Peoria) is introducing the “Good Neighbor” Business of the Month Award. Gordon wants to use a monthly award to recognize the contributions from businesses throughout the year instead of only annually as in the past.

“Our communities are fortunate to have active non-profit organizations working to improve the lives of local residents, but much of this wouldn’t be possible without our outstanding businesses.” Gordon explains, “These businesses give to a wide variety to charitable organizations by offering to sponsor events, by providing volunteers, and by donating goods and services. We need to recognize the work that these businesses do and thank them for supporting our community.”

If you know of a business that goes above and beyond for the Peoria Area, please send a nomination form to Gordon’s Office. Nominations will be accepted on a continuous basis. Winners will be announced each month. Winners will be formally recognized by a visit from Rep. Gordon and be featured at an annual recognition dinner.

“Please share with my office businesses that are exceptional members of our community, so that we all acknowledge them and their contributions,” Gordon said.
