Greeley School Waiver

The Peoria County Regional Office of Education oversees many of the administrative functions associated with the Regional Safe School that is housed at Greeley School in Peoria. One of these functions is to enter and maintain the school calendar with the Illinois State Board of Education. Since the teachers, para- professionals, and maintenance personnel are all employees of Peoria School District 150, the school calendar for Greeley mirrors that of District 150.

Per Section 24-2 of the Illinois School Code the Regional Office-run program must hold a public hearing to waive Columbus Day (2nd Monday in October), Veterans’ Day (November 11), Martin Luther King’s birthday (3rd Monday in January), Abraham Lincoln’s birthday (February 12), and Casmir Pulaski’s birthday (1st Monday in March). The Regional Office wishes to waive these holidays so that attendance, parent/teacher conferences, institute, in-service, or school improvement activities may be conducted on these days.

A public hearing will be held and any parent or teacher who wishes to be heard can be; testimony will be taken at this hearing. This notice serves to inform that the date, time, and place of the hearing to discuss this proposal is as follows:
