Red Cross Volunteers Were Unable to Fly Out of Peoria Over the Weekend

With all of the airport closures, a few Red Cross volunteers were unable to fly out this weekend.

· Don Crouch of Peoria is flying out of Bloomington at 6:45am tomorrow morning and heading to New Jersey to work in Feeding.

· Silvia Albaugh of Dunlap is flying out of Peoria at 6:45am on Wednesday morning and heading to Massachusetts to work in Logistics/Transportation.

This morning, 8,600 people woke up in 340+ Red Cross operated and supported shelters. While the impact of Irene was not as bad as anticipated, the Red Cross will be assisting for the next several weeks. Anyone who wants to help in the relief effort is urged to visit www.redcross.org or text REDCCROSS to 90999. A $10 donation will be made to the Red Cross though their wireless provider.
