CAPtions next week will discuss education being a key to success, whether you are a young child or a young adult.
In the first segment, host Andre Bohannon interviews PCCEO staff from the Early Head Start and Head Start programs. Information about those education/family oriented programs is discussed, along with activities planned for October, which is National Head Start Awareness Month.
Rounding out the hour is a new bi-monthly segment from Illinois Central College’s Harvesting Dreams program. Host Morri Douglas, 2011 ICC Student of the Year & WAZU 90.7 FM Radio host welcomes guests Dr. John Erwin, ICC President, Dr. Rita Ali, Director of Diversity, Agbara Bryson, founder & director of Harvesting Dreams, and Rodney Blue, Minority Outreach Coordinator at Carl Sandburg College.
Topics include why Dr. Erwin created the Department of Diversity; the purpose of Harvesting Dreams in helping African-Americans, especially males not only succeed, but change their mindset from negative thoughts and actions to positive ones. Harvesting Dreams has been such a success, other institution such as Sandburg is copying the model for students at their college.
