Energy Aggregation Public Forum

The City of Peoria will be hosting a public presentation by four firms competing to be selected to serve as the City’s consultant for a municipal energy aggregation program. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. on Monday, October 3, 2011 in Council Chambers.

Illinois law allows consumers to purchase their supply of energy on the open market. Through municipal aggregation, the City of Peoria will be able to negotiate a price for electricity supply on behalf of its residents and small businesses. The first step in this process is the passage of a referendum in the Spring of 2012. The selected consultant will both serve as the public relations entity for this referendum and as the City’s broker in the electricity market.

Each firm will be making a presentation regarding their experience, qualifications and approach. Firms will also be asked a series of four questions. Presentations will be evaluated by a panel of four members of the community. The City Council will select one firm at its October 11, 2011 regular City Council meeting.
