In one of three stops in the U.S, Professor Frédéric Worms of the Ecole Normale Superieure University of Lille III, will lecture at Bradley University on November 7 at 6 p.m. in the Marty Theater in the Michel Student Center, located at 915 N. Elmwood Ave. His topic will be “The Two Senses of ‘Care’ and Bergson’s Two Senses of ‘Life’.” The event is free and open to the public.
Professor Worms is the director of the Centre international d’étude de la philosophie française contemporaine (CIEPFC) at the renowned Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris. A specialist of Henri Bergson, he is the coauthor with Philippe Soulez of a commanding biography of the philosopher. He has just published a book on the ethics of care (Le moment du soin) in which he attempts to expand the notion of care that has been a noted aspect of ethical thought coming out of Anglo-American feminist thought.
The event is sponsored by the French Consulate with support from Bradley’s Intellectual and Cultural Activities Committee, and the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies.
