Upcoming Toy Shop Needs More Volunteer Help
The Salvation Army is looking for a few good men, and women, to assist parents at the annual Toy Shop at the Corps Community Center this Thursday and Friday. “In order for us to keep up with numbers, we are in need of more volunteers, especially on Friday,” said Major Evie Diaz, Divisional Commander for The Salvation Army. “We are grateful to the many folks who are already signed up to help Thursday, but we could use a few more for Friday to help with Friday’s expected traffic,” said Diaz.
Anyone wishing to volunteer for the Toy Shop can contact Susan Moore at 370-1312 to sign up for a shift at the Corps Community Center, 2903 W. Nebraska in Peoria. “We appreciate any help the public can give,” said Captain James Frye, Youth Secretary for The Salvation Army. The Toy Shop is the major gift program of The Salvation Army each year, with over 5,000 children represented in the yearly opportunity for parents to shop for their children.
The Salvation Army needs you this week to help those in need in our community. “We expect busy days this Thursday and Friday, and with more parents utilizing our Toy Shop, we really need some more help,” said Frye. The Toy Shop hours are by set appointments Thursday from 8:30- 6p.m. and Friday from 8:30 to 2 pm.
