Peoria County Board Receives Award

Peoria – At a Joint Statewide Building and Construction Trades Council meeting on Wednesday, September 12, the Peoria County Board received the Illinois Prevailing Wage Rueben G. Soderstrom Award from the Illinois Prevailing Wage Council. The County Board joins past winners Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan, former State Comptroller Dan Hynes, the City of Aurora, and Mayor Robert Eschboch of Ottawa, IL.

According to the West Central Illinois Building and Construction Trades Council, the County Board received the award for its “outstanding, measurable, consistent work… and their support of the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act.” The Board was recognized during yesterday’s awards ceremony for its capital projects that improve the quality of life for all Peoria County and surrounding area residents. These projects include the Peoria Riverfront Museum and the County’s new elder care facility Heddington Oaks, which is on target to open in June 2013 in West Peoria.

Peoria County Board Chairman Thomas H. O’Neill III accepted the award, “Of course it’s always an honor to be recognized, but this award is especially rewarding for the County Board because of our commitment to the community and adherence to the Prevailing Wage Act. We also appreciate the West Central Illinois Building Trades Council for its role in granting Peoria County this award.”
