Peoria – Peoria County has been selected to receive a 2012 Orchid Maintenance Award from Keep Peoria Beautiful for the County’s courthouse grounds. The maintenance award is given to a business that has received the Orchid Award in the past and continues to demonstrate outstanding efforts in landscaping and site beautification. Peoria County received the Orchid Award in 2007.
County Board Chairman Thomas H. O’Neill III is proud of Facilities and Grounds Operations’ staff for their hard work: “Our facilities team deserves the credit for this honor. They’ve been out in the extreme heat all summer making sure our public garden, the courthouse plaza, survived the drought and remains appealing and welcoming to downtown business people and weekend visitors. I am grateful to Keep Peoria Beautiful for continuing to recognize their efforts.”
Keep Peoria Beautiful works with local organizations and volunteers to make an impact on a variety of city-wide beautification projects. Every year the organization awards local businesses with Orchid Awards for outstanding landscaping and beautification.
