What: 3nd Annual Recognition Dinner to honor West Peoria Lions Club for their past year of service and volunteer work for the Peoriarea Blind People’s Center. The West Peoria Lions Club has spent the past year performing many maintenance repairs and upgrades to the building, maintaining the Center’s copier equipment, helping serve and prepare meals on Wednesdays, and helping out whenever possible. The West Peoria Lions Club is a service organization that delivers on its motto, “we serve”.
When: Friday, February 8, 2013, with a social hour and silent auction from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., dinner and recognition of sponsors from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m., and Chuck Weaver, the event’s speaker, from 7:00 – 7:30 p.m. Chuck Weaver is the founder of Leaders Change Peoria. Chuck’s topic will be Eggs and Boulders, a look at how a community and not for profits can change the way they are operating.

Why: The Annual Recognition Dinner is held to honor an individual or an organization that has supported the Blind People’s Center which was organized in 1956 in order to provide vital services and support to individuals facing the uncertainties and challenges related to uncorrectable vision loss. The Center’s mission is to provide fellowship, education, rehabilitation training, charitable work and other services to the blind and low vision citizens in the Peoria and surrounding area.
